Chinese developers are responsible for creating the deepin Linux distribution, and for some, that alone is enough to cause suspicion and hesitation. But let’s not forget, many of our everyday goods, including personal computers and components, are also manufactured in China. And deepin is built largely on open source software, making it a contender among the top Linux distributions.
Despite any controversial origins, deepin stands out as an exceptional choice for both Linux novices and experts. With its Debian foundation and impressive stability, coupled with its smooth and streamlined user experience, version 15.6 is a must-have for those in search of a top-notch operating system.
Exciting updates have been made to deepin 15.6, taking the already exceptional OS to new heights. The deepin Linux Team explains, “Compared with the previous version of deepin 15.5, deepin 15.6 boasts the added function of disabling display scaling for HiDPI screens, a left navigation bar, and a music cover plugin in Control Center. Additionally, a welcome program and new Deepin Manual have been developed for easier use. But that’s not all, the desktop environment has been optimized, a new-look Launcher has been designed, and the Dock, Control Center, and other desktop components have been enhanced.”
But the enhancements don’t stop there. The deepin team has fixed a whopping 217 bugs in the development of version 15.6, addressing issues with the desktop environment, native applications, other applications, kernels, and the Deepin File Manager. These impressive efforts have resulted in 17 fatal bug fixes, 18 serious bug fixes, 152 normal bug fixes, and 30 enhancements.
Some of the key improvements that have been made to deepin 15.6 include an optimized icon order and display for the Dock, enhanced account logic and prompts in Control Center, improved workspace switching display effect, and overall performance and compatibility improvements for other applications.
But as with any software, there are a few known bugs that are being addressed by the deepin team. These include occasional failures with the Deepin Remote Assistance, EFI verification errors during kernel loading (although it does not affect normal use), occasional system crashes when switching languages, and issues with network connectivity in Deepin Store.
